In the beginning of 2016, I decided to launch my own mobile app for birdwatchers who use smartphones out in the field. I write about it in a post here. The idea behind the app was to provide better bird identification tools as opposed to referencing a guide book or asking someone. I wanted the app to be intuitive, require only a few data inputs and voila you have your bird and everything you need to know about it.
I partnered with an offshore development company to design and develop the app. The product vision, market research, and release communication was all managed by me.
Below is part of the deck I used with the development team to plan out the deliverable.

These are some of the mockups I designed to provide my dev team in order for them to build the app.

We eventually launched the app in the iOS store. The below is a screenshot of what the actual experience was during the login. The app is still mentioned on my developers webpage today

By the end of 2016, I had doubled my userbase and had it promoted/recommended by local Audubon Society chapters for an entire birding season.
